I like that you’ve added a listener questions segment to the podcast, so here’s a query for you: Why must I be connected to XBox Live to play Indie Games?
Looking forward to your reply, thanks.

This actually bugs me as a developer…I’ve been screwed a few times going to show off my game and forgetting to verify a working internet connection.

However, since it’s a DL-only title on a non-portable system, I -suppose- I can understand the inclination to implement a phone-home validation system.

It may be because Microsoft wants to prevent us developers from deploying our game (or everyone else’s ccgame) to every console owned by friends and family. That could allow anyone to potentially play Indie games offline without having to pay for it, so I can see the logic if that’s their reason.

What would your incentive as a developer be to do that, though? You could just as easily give people an executable and have them play it on pc, right?

It just seems like another somewhat arbitrary limiting factor to make XBLIG lesser than XBLA. I just moved into a new apartment and it took about 1.5 weeks for the verizon dude to come out, and thus no indies for me…lame.

Oh, and I’m glad you like it! We’ve always encouraged people to write us emails, but nobody every did! Anyways, We’ll solicit more questions through forums/twitter in the future :)

My internet connection can be somewhat temperamental, so there are times when I just can’t play indie games which is kind of annoying, specially when I’ve only got say 20 mins to spare and want to play something quick but fun, which a lot of indie games are ideal for.
Glad to see I’m not the only one wondering why this is though.
