The Best XBLIG New Releases for the Week of October 30

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria!  The seemingly impossible has become a reality: we are actually recommending a Silver Dollar Games title. In all fairness, it’s still not very good, and it’s certainly not close to the best title of the week (which came down to a heated battle between DLC Quest and Escape Goat). But the fact that it’s actually a game with an objective beyond pushing buttons to get still images of girls to flirt with …

Decay Developer Explains Shift to Browser-Based Format

We were a bit befuddled when Shining Gate Software announced rather innocuously that development on Decay Asylum shifted gears and the game was now being developed primarly as a browser-based game. We asked series co-creator Fredrik Westlund about the change of scenery, and he explained that it was simply a matter of getting the game in front of as many (terrified) eyes as possible. “We decided to focus on PC because we need to reach out to more players. XBLIG …

First Look: Echo Storm

Posted on by Dave Voyles in PC Previews | 3 Comments

Shmups are known for being notoriously difficult. This attribute commonly makes the genre as a whole unappealing to many gamers, unless you get your kicks from punishing yourself. But the winds of change are bringing a new title to our table in the form of Echo Storm, which allows players to adjust the difficulty based on which side of the screen they play on. I first met developer Benjamin Jelter while talking over a game of Sonic Generations at NYC …

Rock of Ages Review: Not One for the Ages

Posted on by Erron Kelly in PC, PC Reviews, Reviews, XBLA, XBLA Reviews | Leave a comment

This piece of work has taken me longer to write than anything I have ever written before in my entire life. That includes, but is not limited to, a boring as hell essay I had to write back in high school that I managed to string out for an additional two weeks before finally being ordered to hand it in. That essay eventually got written solely because my intense distaste for that particular subject and teacher drove me to weave …

Wizorb Bounces onto PCs on November 7

Posted on by Mike Wall in News, PC, PC News | Leave a comment

Wizorb, also known as the greatest iteration of Brickbreaker ever, will be available on PC through GamersGate for a measly $2.99. The PC version will support gamepad, keyboard, and mouse countrols. One-handed gamers should be pleased to learn that the entire game can be played with just a mouse. Mac and Linux ports are also in the works. Check out our review of the XBLIG version here. The Best XBLIG New Releases for the Week of October 23

Two weeks ago indie devs managed a paltry four games, and here we are this week with 20 brand spankin’ new Xbox Live Indie Games. Sadly, the Halloween quota wasn’t even close to being fulfilled, with a mere two zombie games popping up to feed our insatiable appetite for maaahnsters. We do get a Risk clone, an undead brawler, dragon air hockey and tons of games that will make you want to chuck your Xbox out the window, so keep …

The War of the Worlds Video Review: War Better Change

Posted on by Daniel Campbell in PSN, PSN Reviews, Reviews, XBLA, XBLA Reviews | 1 Comment

War never changes…except I guess it kind of does when it involves aliens with tentacled spaceships instead of boring old tanks and planes. Anyway, can Other Ocean Interactive’s new The War of the Worlds game capture the splendor of H.G. Wells’ classic story, or is it about as exciting as watching Tom Cruise duke it out with CG vampire-alien spaceships? (Hmm.. that sounds much better on a computer screen than the big screen) You’ll have to watch our video review to …
