Contest: Win EvilQuest!

Contest is closed! Thanks to everyone who entered, and congrats to Jody Owsley (@viper1829) on winning. Okay, admit it. It’s fun to be bad. It’s okay, we won’t tell your parents. We don’t want them thinking they raised you to be some kind of hooligan or something. But acting our your maniacal powertrip fantasies in a video game like EvilQuest? That’s perfectly normal. And if there is anything better than paying a measly buck for a darned good game, it’s getting a darned good game for free. That’s why we’re going away a copy of EvilQuest for Xbox courtesy of Chaosoft Games.

Read our full review to find out why we think so highly of EvilQuest. There are two ways to win, and you are encouraged to enter both ways! One random winner will be picked Friday, January 27 at 6 PM EST.

1) Post in this thread about your favorite villain of all time.

About Mike Wall

Mike grew up and lives near Philadelphia and has been intrigued with games ever since his parents preached that they rotted his brain. He studied journalism at Penn State and got his master's degree in secondary education before realizing that not even summers off would make that job palatable. He now works in marketing and is trying to find time to continue writing a book about zombies, aliens, vampires, the end of the world, and a talking cat.

Being the Star Wars fanatic that i am, the obvious choice would be to go with Dart Vader. However, I’m picking Maleficent, from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. Favorite Disney movie and she’s pretty BA.

  • http://twitter.com/sakanakami Joe Eafrati

I think I’m going to have to go with Cruella De Vil. She’s truly evil, only someone that evil would want to skin puppies.

  • http://twitter.com/blbeel B:L

The Joker from Batman. He’s an evil genius with a comically twisted mindset, and not even The Dark Knight could truly stop him.

  • http://twitter.com/FSNsaber James

The Shredder from TMNT. “I’m going to make you into turtle-soup!” Evil~

  • Brittany Holmes

The Laughing man from Ghost in the Shell. A villain which everyone loves and has many good qualities, but his crimes are ultimately high ranking crimes; no matter the good intentions.

  • Anonymous

Shredder? C’MON! We all know that Krang was the brains of that operation.

  • Anonymous

“The class is Pain 101. Your instructor’s Casey Jones.”

GitS: Stand Alone Complex?  The Laughing Man only committed a handful of the crimes he was actually accused of though, the rest of those were manufactured.  God, I love that series.

I was going to say Shredder or Joker, but I’ve noticed that those were already mentioned. I guess I’ll go with Vega from Street Fighter (M. Bison in the US version, with the hat)

My favorite villains are always the ones you can understand and sympathize with.  Complete psychopaths are fun in their own way, but filling the role of an antagonist in a story doesn’t necessarily mean a person is “evil” per se, even if their actions are perceived as such.  Those make for the most interesting characters.

I could rattle off a handful, but I’ll say Kerrigan from Starcraft.  I don’t want the prize (I’ve already got EvilQuest), I just like this particular topic and support this giveaway. :D

I would say Kefka from Final Fantasy 6…a pure genius of evil and a bad guy everyone’s hated!

  • http://twitter.com/ChaosoftGames Chaosoft Games

    Gotta weigh in here.

Video Game – No one has mentioned Sephiroth? That dude was twisted, he gets my vote. Kefka is a very close 2nd.

Comic Book – The Green Goblin. He killed Spidey’s girl. Nuff Said!

Movie – Vader, without him that franchise wouldn’t have made it to where it is today.

Television – Ben Linus from Lost (well until the last couple of seasons at least)

    I agree – Sephiroth FTW.
Although…. the driving force behind him WAS Jenova, and you fight her three times…… so she could throw her hat in the ring too.

I was going to go for Jareth “The Goblin King” from Labyrinth since he’s awesome, but then thinking about it, he’s not really a villain as he’s actually in love with Sarah and only does what he thinks she wants (funny how I never realized that before now).
So instead I will go with Clarence Boddicker from Robocop. He’s all kinds of bad*ss!

I’m not entering (I already own the game) but I felt like weighing in on the villain discussion.

A recent pick for me: Jim Moriarty from the BBC’s ‘Sherlock’. The man is simultaneously a criminal mastermind, a chessmaster, an ADHD child, and a near-MPD nutjob. The final episode (to date), ‘The Reichenbach Fall’, really shows him at his best. You have to watch the rest of the episodes first though. :p

  • http://www.armlessoctopus.com Mike Wall

Well, Kefka was mentioned previously at least! Ben was a pretty awesome villain…and then he becomes..well I’m not 100% sure #stillalittleconfusedaboutlost #ohshititsnottwitter

  • http://www.armlessoctopus.com Mike Wall

I’ve been really meaning to start watching that show!

  • http://twitter.com/AlanWithTea Alan

It’s among the best series I’ve seen in recent years. I strongly recommend it.

  • http://twitter.com/pen_fil Filatov Oleg

    Krang from TMNT

  • http://twitter.com/mirpkered Derek Prim

The best villian ever? Obviously Kefka from FFVI. He is a manic evil genius!

  • John Proch

    Darth Vader

  • http://indielair.blogspot.com/ skaipio

Pyramid Head. Giving me the creeps like no other villain. Although he might not classify as a villain in the classic sense, I think he deserves to be mentioned here.

  • Anonymous

I would agree with you here, he is pretty maniacal. Then again, Sephiroth does sort of 1-up him in FF VII….

  • http://twitter.com/AlanWithTea Alan

I’ve never understood the love for Kefka. He’s an evil clown. He giggles while doing bad things. Not exactly the height of characterisation. But to each their own and all that.

  • Matt Huff

My favorite villain is Lawrence Murphy from Young Guns.  He is a ripe bastard!

  • http://twitter.com/DeadlyMaverick Jason Adams

Gotta say favorite villain; Albert *Ultimate Douchebag* Wesker. Every time I see that face I want to punch, stab and shoot it.

  • http://twitter.com/AsagiAsagiri Asagi Asagiri

I would have to go with Venom from Spider-Man. And I’m not talking about that wimpy Venom from the Spider-Man 3 movie, I’m talking about Venom from Marvel VS Capcom. OMG THAT TONGUE!

  • http://twitter.com/srslyyou Nicholas Bourassa

Going to with Invader Zim, only because he comes with gir and gir likes tacos

  • Phoenix Bauer

Favorite villain is G-Man.  His mystery combined with creepiness makes him the ultimate foe!

  • http://twitter.com/forenzikxx Forenzik

    Joker

  • http://twitter.com/lFraggerl David

I think my favorite is Darth Malek from KotoR. He’s pretty bad-ass. =P

  • http://twitter.com/iMathewM Mathew M.

I think Cruella De Vil SHES SO EVIL and gross sometimes..

  • http://twitter.com/ropes ropes

Kefka from FFVI and his evilness and craziness.

  • Chris Teel

I’ve always been fascinated by Doctor Doom.  Egocentric, but with a sense of nobility.
