Contest: Win Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2

It’s been quite an interesting run for Sonic. When he burst onto the scene in the early 90s, he was a compact ball of energy. Then, like many entertainers, his life sputtered out of control and he hit some truly dark spots (seriously? a werehog?). But now Sega has the speedster sprinting in the right direction, and we’d like to give one of our lucky readers a chance to win his latest adventure game, Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 for XBLA, courtesy of the fine folks at Sega.

    My favorite is still Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Incredibly epic story for a 16 bit game. Oh, and best Special Stages in the whole Sonic franchise.

    Definitely the original. It was my first proper platforming game and I loved every bit of it. What Mario was for everyone else around me, Sonic was for me, and much, much more.

    My favorite Sonic game is Sonic Adventure. It was one of the best games on Dreamcast and the best 3 D Sonic.

    No doubt! Sonic – The Hedgehog is still my favorite to this day. I don’t give a damn if it’s just me and my nostalgia, but this game beats every other entry in the franchise by miles. It’s simple, it’s elegant, it’s perfect!

    My favourite Sonic games remains the original Sonic the Hedgehog – on the Master System! It’s sorely overlooked for some reason. My memory of the sequence of events is that the Master System Sonic came first, but the internet seems to disagree with me.

    Anyway, it was the first Sonic I played, and the first ‘real’ video game of my life. I’d played Atari 2600 and XE games, that sort of thing, but Sonic 1 on the Master System was the first I played that I consider a video game by today’s standards.

    After that, it’s Sonic 2 on the Mega Drive. It struck a balance of level design and music that places it ahead of its predecessor or sequel. I also have a soft spot for Sonic & Knuckles, sssshhh.

    I agree. I had Sonic 1 right after it came out, and loved the soundtrack and how pretty the game looked. There wasn’t anything that compared with the feeling of speed the game gave you at the time.

    I grabbed Sonic 2 that Christmas it launched, and continued to play it with my brother for years afterwards. I remember coming home from school each day and he would be paused at the same location as we tried over and over to beat that silly game. We didn’t finally do it until nearly 20 years later.

    My favourite has to be Sonic & Knuckles , easily the game I spent most time with on my genesis. Or Sonic spinball, first videogame I owned (came with my genesis). Was good, but not earth shattering. But still, great memories.

    Mine is Sonic Adventure 2, it’s the perfect transformation of Sonic into 3D games, in fact is a terrific game not only for Sonic fans, if you can check it you should do it.
    (Plus Shadow is introduced in this game)
