The Games Featured in The Next Game Boss will be Available Soon

Update: Mechamagizmo confirmed that StaRiser is coming to iOS next month, and the team is adding Game Center support for high scores. “The Next Game Boss was a great experience! We love Jams and Hackathons, so working under the pressure of a 24-48 hour turnaround is kind of how we roll,” said Dawn Rivers, CEO of Mechamagizmo.

Original Story:

The final episode of The Next Game Boss has been posted on IGN’s Start Channel, and while we won’t spoil who won the indie development reality series, fans of the show should be pleased to learn the top two games will be available soon. The developers initially signed away the rights to their creations to IGN as part of the agreement to appear on the show, but Jake Lewandowski of Team 2Bit (Team Fist Puncher on the show) said that IGN recently returned the rights to the developers.

Washington’s Wig, the endless runner starring George Washington’s canine companion, Dogsworth McFreedom, will trot to XBLIG and mobile devices later this year. “We’re not totally set on what will be added to Washington’s Wig yet, but there are already new villians & powerups. [It] probably will have some different levels and play modes as well,” said Lewandowski.

StaRiser, Mechamagizmo’s arcade-style combo-fest will also be headed to iOS and Android devices “soon,” according to a post on the competition’s YouTube page. We’ve contacted the developer for more details.

Team2Bit Dragon Punches Their Way Onto IGN Reality Show

Reality TV shows are all the rage. I mean who doesn’t want to watch short-tempered wealthy housewives duke it out in their own little worlds? There isn’t much for us gamers though. Sure, Sony has The Tester, but that’s more absurd challenges as people make their way toward simply testing games. But what about seeing the process of developing a full game, from inception to completion, along with a few kinks in the chain? Fortunately, IGN has concocted such a show, titled The Next Game Boss.

XBLIG developer Team2Bit has made the cut, and the duo of brother’s Matt and Jake Lewandowski illustrate their newest game concept in the first episode that aired yesterday on IGN’s YouTube channel. They “operate under the moniker ‘Team First Puncher,’” which is also the name of their upcoming XBLIG title, explaining “Yeah we couldn’t be ‘Team Team2Bit.’”

You can root the XBLIG developers on and follow along their progress through their Twitter account, @Team2Bit.

IGN Searching for San Francisco Indie Devs for YouTube Reality Series

Posted on by Mike Wall in News, PC News, PSN News, XBLA News, XBLIG News | Leave a comment

If you’re an indie developer in the San Francisco area, you might want to go ahead and block off early January on your calendar. IGN is looking for indie devs to star in their upcoming reality series, The Next Game Boss, which will begin airing next month on their new YouTube channel dubbed START.

Each episode will feature seven teams competing against each other in a different area of game development, and judges will winnow down the herd with the familiar vote-one-team-off-the-island reality TV formula. In addition to never-ending fame, the winning team will also receive a suite of state-of-the-art (expensive) development tools and a spot in IGN’s Indie Open House, which provides free office space inside the monolithic IGN central command building and access to IGN editors.

“We’re looking for people who have awesome ideas for video games who have the skills to make a great game and are creative,” said Danielle Barba Carter, the show’s casting producer. “We’re looking for people who have a little bit of personality, talent and passion for what they do.”

The filming will take about a week during early January, which means that the casting call is ostensibly restricted to teams currently located in the Bay Area. But, Carter admitted that they might be willing to make an exception if they found the right committed team that was willing to make the trek to San Francisco and cover their own expenses. ”We’re looking for 1-3 people, but ideally we’re looking for 2 on a team,” she said.

Fill out an application online if you’re interested in getting your charming mug(s) on Internet TV, but don’t dilly dally; the deadline to apply is December 20.
